Once upon a time there was a God and a Goddess. When they met they were immediately attracted to each other. To court each other, they showed to each other various aspects of themselves. Their perfectly balanced polar energies sent sparks flying and created countless Gods and Goddesses from their aspects. After courting, the God and Goddess joined together as one. Together they form a complete balance of all polarities, known and unknown. Creation flows from their perfect union. Their joining created all matter and they became The Great Mother and The Great Father.
The Mother and Father decided to create a child to help them in the family business of caring for Everything. This child was Storm God. The Mother and Father home schooled Storm God and taught him the things he needed to know to help his parents to care for Everything. When Storm God grew up and left home, the Mother and Father were lonely, and they saw that Storm God would need help in his tasks. So the Mother and Father gave birth to quadruplets—two boys (which they named “Spirit of the East” and “Spirit of the South”) and two girls (which they named “Spirit of the West” and “Spirit of the North”). Although they were all born at the same time, they were each very different children. The Mother and Father again home schooled each of their new children and taught them how to properly manage the seasons, take care of the elements, and help in the family business of taking care of Everything. As these spirits grew and learned, they decided they wanted pets. The young children promised to feed and water their pets and care for them every day. The Mother and Father were a little leery, but after making it clear that all pets will be treated as important members of the family, they agreed, and created the animals, birds, reptiles and fish of the world. Everyone in the family was very pleased with this.
Then one day, the Mother and Father noticed that their children were outgrowing their childhood. Their love was great and they wanted to share it. So they started creating Mankind. This they are doing to this very day. The Mother and Father home school Mankind, like their much older brothers and sisters so that they may someday join in the family business of taking care of the creations of The Great Mother and The Great Father. In some ways, Mankind is fortunate to be the baby of the family. Besides loving parents, we also have wise “aunts” and “uncles” (who are more like second mothers and fathers), older brothers and sisters, and of course the family “pets” that are more than willing to help us with our studies. Although our family may seem very diverse, we ARE a family, forever linked together by the same spiritual bloodline.
