Spirit Meditation
Meditation by Wolfwyndd Relax, close your eyes and let your breathing slow down. Inhale deeply and fully, and slowly exhale, allowing all your stresses leave your body with your breath. Let your breathing slow even further and let your mind become clear and calm. Allow all the worries and cares just drain away with your breath and leave you calm and collected, calm and peaceful as they drain away. As you become more relaxed, your breathing should slow even more until you are not stressed, calm, and relaxed. Pause. Now let your mind slowly become aware of the ground beneath you. Allow yourself to slowly drift downwards into the earth and become cradled in the ground. As you breath in the quiet strength of the earth, allow yourself to sink deeper into that place in the ground that you feel most comfortable and relaxed. You are in that place that you are the most protected and soothing. Let anything else that may disturb you sink away into the warm moist soil and let new energy from the earth begin to fill you up as a plant soaks up the energy and grows. Pause. Now continue to breath deeply and slowly and as you do, tune out all sounds and distractions until you hear only a voice. You need not aggressively tune things out, but allow all other sounds to wash over you as waves over rocks, not bothering you, or displacing you, only letting yourself be aware of them. Let the act of acknowledgement work to further fade into relaxation. Pause. Now as your further fade into relaxation, feel yourself begin to move slowly downward through the earth. The top layers of the soil are warm and moist and you realize they have been warmed by the sun which has provided you with the energy you need to grow. Now as you move downward you begin to perceive other scenes around you. As you feel the gentle movement on your skin, you slowly become aware that it has changed from soil on your skin to air and as you look around even further you realize you have come to a large, wide open field. The grass around you is green and thick and you become aware of the birds and insects buzzing with activity. Pause. As time rolls slowly onward, the scene fades into a golden beach touching a deep blue sea. You hear the waves crashing on the beach and see all the sea birds rushing to gather their own harvest from what the waves have washed ashore. The sun is strong and hot and you are standing close enough to the waves that you are splashed by the coolness of the water. The seagulls are swooping down looking for food of their own. Pause. Time once again moves further onward and the scene fades once again and you are back in a field. But this field is different. It may be the same field but it feels different. The grass beneath your feet has changed. It’s now starting to turn brown, and the trees over there which you may not have noticed at first, are filled with brown, orange, yellow and red leaves. The air on your face is different too. While it still cares the warmth of the sun, you can just barely detect the hint of coolness in it. The leaves at your feet crunch and the creatures around you are beginning to gather their harvest. Pause. Once again, as time marches ahead, the scene once again begins to fade and find yourself sitting in front of a large fireplace with a fire burning brightly in it. As you look out the window you can see the field where it seems just moments ago you were standing. But the field is covered with snow and the trees are all bear. No footprints disturb the snow and all is quiet. All around you the world has gone to sleep to rest in the arms of winter. But while it is cold outside, the fire warms you as you realize that the times of renewing the bonds of friendship and family are upon you. Pause. Your journey is not over. The scene around you fades once more and you sink further into yourself. What you see around you can not be described with words. You are in the place which is quintessentially you. You know this place. You know the things you feel here. You know the things you see here. You know the things you smell here and you know the things that you taste here. It is your sacred place and this is the place there all your hopes and dreams reside. Your thoughts and fears also reside here. This is the place where you go to get to know yourself, and your spirit. You may see things that you fear. You may see things that you hope for. You may also see things that you dream about. All these things surround you. Acknowledge them. Talk to them. Ask them questions, or just listen to the things they may want to tell you. Take as long as you like to converse with them. Their counsel is your own counsel and you can learn from them as you listen. Whomever and whatever they are they can not harm you in this place for it is yours and yours alone. But you must listen with your heart and your mind. You must take heed of what they say to you. Long pause. Now it is time to return. You bid them farewell. You do not say goodbye because while you are leaving, THEY, will not leave YOU. You know that you can come back here at any time to listen to them. As that realization washes over you, you begin to slowly rise up. You are once again surrounded by the warmth of the fireplace looking out over the snow covered ground. [short pause] Now the scene changes back to that of the field of fallen leaves and cool air. [short pause] Changes happen around you again and the warm sand is under your feet and the waves of the shore. [short pause] Finally the thick green grass is under your feet and the birds and insects buzz once more with life. [short pause] You finally begin to feel the air on your skin replaced with the soil that you first sank down into. [short pause] You once slowly become aware of your breathing and the fact that you are sitting. You start to hear the others around you breathing slowly and deeply as you once again take a slow, deep breath and become more aware of your surroundings. Let your breathing become normal again and when you are ready, rejoin us here in this world. | Home |
